If you are a dog owner you must already know that dogs are individuals just like human beings. Each of them has its own likes and dislikes and emotions. Some dogs like one brand of dog food while others may like a completely different brand.

If you are wondering what kind of dog treats your dog would enjoy, start by keeping in mind that your dog may not like the same treat as your neighbor or friend's dog. Dogs can be quite fussy about their choice of treats. The best way to figure out your dog's taste is to give him a treat and see his reaction. If your dog is wagging its tail or licking its lips, you can be sure that it likes the treat. On the other hand, if your dog dislikes the treat, he will leave it on the ground, sniff it and walk away.

Some dogs may even bark at you to show their dislike! If you have more than one dog this task gets even trickier as not all of them will like the same treats. You will need to stock up on different brands of dog treats. Store these in separate air-tight containers so you know which one is for which dog. Use clear, plastic containers and label each with your dog's name on it. This will also prevent your dogs from helping themselves to the treats whenever they feel like it.

You can even try making dog treats at home. Combine 1 lb. of raw liver that has been blended into a paste, an egg, a cup of flour, half cup of corn meal, a dash of oregano and a quarter teaspoon of brewers yeast. Bake this mixture at 350 deg. F for about 30 minutes. This recipe gives you chewy treats.

If your dog prefers crispy treats, just increase the baking time. You can store home-made treats in air-tight containers or even freeze them in zip lock freezer bags. Just thaw them before using. If you are making dog treats at home, just keep in mind that garlic and onions can be toxic for dogs so avoid using these ingredients. While making dog treats maintain a balance of protein, grains and vegetables. Don't feed your dog any kind of raw meat as they are prone to infections like salmonella just like us. Avoid using any kind of artificial sweeteners or flavoring agents.
